Deposits are nonrefundable. Any person who has submitted a payment in full and wishes to cancel a reservation will receive the total amount minus the $100.00 deposit in the form of a check. Refunds will only be provided prior to the start of class on the first day. Once a student has attended the first day of class, a refund will no longer be granted. If a student does not attend on the first day of class, he or she will not be given a refund, but will be allowed to reschedule to a different class upon approval of the school if there are vacancies. A full refund will only be issued if a student has been instructed or trained by an unlicensed instructor. If a parent decides to have the driving portion completed at a different driving school due to the wait time being longer than expected but not exceeding our deadline given by the State of Louisiana then we can furnish the paperwork to do so. However, the parent will not be given a credit or refund.

Class lectures may include, but are not limited to, the following: traffic laws and regulations, signs, traffic lights, and markings, correct and safe driving procedures, emergencies, driving hazards including weather conditions, alcohol, drug abuse, motorcycle safety, interstate driving, and driving offenses. Worksheets will be administered after each chapter along with a comprehensive final exam on the last day of class. The final exam requires a passing score of at least 80%.

If any necessary absence occurs during the classroom portion of instruction, the student must contact our office to arrange a makeup date and time in order to complete the in class portion of the course.

A quiz will be administered after each chapter and a comprehensive final exam will be administered on the last day of class. The final exam requires a passing score of at least 80%. Students who fail to achieve the required score after two attempts will be able to retake the exam for an additional cash fee of $20.00 to cover the cost for the instructor. Certificates will be held until all fees are paidDriving is a privilege which should be taken very serious and students are urged to ask as many questions needed to fully understand any and all material. If a student has any sort of disability that should hinder them, please notify our office prior to enrolling.

Once a student has successfully completed his or her class along with successfully passing the final exam, the student will be contacted by an instructor to schedule his or her driving sessions. Each student will be trained using a certified vehicle with a dual-brake system. Prior to a student beginning the driving portion, a parent or guardian must sign the Commercial School Instruction Permit. Students are scheduled in four two-hour blocks or two four-hour blocks on different days and may be picked up by the instructor at their home, school, or workplace within a 10 mile radius. Students must ensure that they are at the agreed pickup location at the appointed time. It is entirely up to the instructor’s discretion on where the student will be picked up and dropped off for each session.

Classes or driving sessions will be cancelled in the event of extremely inclement weather (i.e. hurricane, tornado, etc.) which may put students in danger. Road Scholars: Institute of Driving’s staff will post any cancellations notices on the school’s FaceBook or website and students will be contacted directly regarding a rescheduled date.

At Road Scholars Institute of Driving we strive to work as fast as possible to avoid an extended waiting period to complete the behind-the-wheel sessions. Our goal is to have each student completed as soon as possible, but no longer than four (4) months after completing the classroom portion as permitted by the State of Louisiana.

Delayed waiting times may occur in the event of the following:

(1) Inclement weather. In the event that the weather does not permit, our instructors will notify the parent/student to reschedule the behind-the-wheel driving session to ensure the safety of our students and our instructors.

(2) Summer/Holidays. The summer and holiday classes are considered the busy season. Please be advised that the summer and holiday courses may delay the behind-the-wheel session. However, each student is expected to complete the entire course within four (4) months from the last date of their enrolled classroom portion course.

Our instructors will contact the parent/student to schedule the behind-the-wheel driving sessions.

If a student misses or cancels a scheduled driving session without a (24 hour notice) a cash fee of $50.00 will be charged to cover the instructor costs. Certificates will be held until all fees are paid. No certificate will be awarded until the course requirements are met.
